Contest Format:
To enter the contest you must put together a team of 4 surfers from any San Dieguito year. There are no restrictions on year of attendance for team members, i.e. a student from 1995 can be on the same team as a student from 1973. Surfers do not have to be graduates of San Dieguito. The only restriction is that they have to have attended San Dieguito at one time. Email your team list and any questions to olynorris@mac.com
The event will be held in "Tag Team" format just like last year. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this format, there will be a detailed description at the contest site, so get there early. Basically 4 teams surf directly against each other in 1 hour rounds and the surfers alternate with each other by running up the beach and tagging in. This means that there will be no more than 4 surfers in the water at any given time.
There will be 4 first round heats, 2 semi final heats and a final. This allows for 24 teams to enter the event (8 teams will advance to the semis and four teams advance to the final). Teams will accumulate points from the top 2 waves of each surfer on the team. There is a 3 wave maximum for each surfer, so be selective. Each team designates one surfer on their team who is a "double hitter." This surfer is able to claim their best wave of the heat for double points.
The best thing about this format is that it leads to a lot of trash talking between the teams. I know we are all very good at that.
Heats will be posted on this site before the event. The contest starts at 7:30 am. If you're confused about the Tag Team format, then show up a little early and we'll clue you in.

Space is limited to 24 teams of 4 people each, so please send an email confirming your team's entry ASAP to olynorris@mac.com
